The Dome House, located in Cave Creek, Arizona, is a foundational site in Paolo Soleri's architectural journey and his exploration of "arcology." Designed with Mark Mills and completed in 1950, it predates Cosanti and Arcosanti. This early experimental location was a critical proving ground for the passive solar strategies and integrated environmental design principles that would define Soleri's later, larger-scale endeavors. The Dome House is a privately-owned residence in Cave Creek, Arizona. While it was originally commissioned by Lenora Woods, it is not owned by the Cosanti Foundation, which operates Cosanti and Arcosanti. Despite its private ownership, its historical and architectural significance is recognized.
